Alternatively, the cocoa butter can be melted in the microwave. Chop your cacao butter up small (unless it comes in buttons / drops) and melt it over a double boiler, making sure the bowl with the cacao butter does not touch the water underneath and that the flame is low as cacao butter does not like. Place a heat-proof bowl on top of the saucepan, creating a double boiler and add the cocoa butter.
Once melted, add the powedered sugar and stir well to dissolve it.
Make sure that all of the sugar is completely dissolved in the cacao butter before adding the vanilla extract.
Transfer the mixture to a double boiler and whisk until smooth. Add the cocoa butter to a small saucepan and melt over medium heat. Let the cacao butter melt gently over the hot water.
